This Flint, Michigan based band is storming the punk scene with a downpour of great old school, mixed with newer pop sounding melodic punk rock! Recently signing to Fueled By Ramen, this band is about to be everywhere. In 2002 Nick and Jonathan Diener, along with Nate Lambert formed The Swellers and recorded a three song demo. After a week they booked their first show and The Swellers were on the road to rock stardom.

So have you heard, Girls Get All The Action? Not in the literal sense of course, but as in the band. Girls Get All The Action are a 5 piece rock band from Richmond, Virginia. Sounds extremely original and cliché I'm well aware of that, but the boys idea of a rock band began as just a project. A project which was obviously took to the next level and undoubtedly successful. If this project was submitted to a teacher for marking it would receive an A+ in every aspect: music, songwriting, band members and dedication. Being fairly new to the scene forming in the fall of 2008 the boys are already accomplishing great things that most would believe to be unreachable.

There are many words that come to mind when you hear Mika; unique, not surprisingly, is the first word that pops into my head. Mika definitely has his own sound, and one could propose that he has created his own genre. Born with the name, Michael Holbrook Pennima, from London, this singer and songwriter has proved to be extremely musically inclined with his past album. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Mika is proving his talent once again with his new album titled, The Boy Who Knew Too Much. This new CD has a variety of sounds from slow to upbeat, and of course is as catchy as expected.

Inspiration can come from the strangest of places, it can lead us out of darkness or it can allow us to begin again; but most importantly, inspiration inevitably brings about change. This is exactly what the members of Machree experienced as Patrick (vocals), Jonathan (guitar), Marcus (guitar), Mike (keys, samples), Brian (bass), and Dan (drums) came together. These St. Louis, MO natives have pulled influence and experience from previous music endeavors that represent completely opposite ends of the alternative musical spectrum.

In a world of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll, one venue located in an industrial park in the town of Hamden, Connecticut, breaks the “rules” and gives teens a positive place to rock out. Although the venue is pretty small in size, if you make it to a show of a favorable band, you definitely will not be disappointed. Steve Rodgers of the band Mighty Purple started the venue in a practice space used by his band not far from where the venue lies today.

An artists portfolio is a very important and personal item; only the best of their work is picked to be presented and they must chose each piece themselves. It's often recommended that an artist begin and finish the portfolio with the two strongest pieces, descending from each end into the middle with the weakest of the strong.

Asking Alexandria are a band that many people could just quickly listen to and not take the time to actually appreciate the music. The type of music they’re playing is one that is being played it’s loudest right now, so many people may not give them a chance. I assure you though, Asking Alexandria is a band who when put up against those other bands will blow them out of the water. Hailing from the United Kingdom, Asking Alexandria have proved themselves worthy in the scene and have started touring in the United States in support of the release of their new album, Stand Up And Scream.

This Nebraska, gone New Yorker pop rock singer started his career in 1999, self recording his first album in his North Lincoln apartment. Gathering a band together Aaron started playing local shows in Nebraska. A local radio jock liked one of his tunes and started playing it on the radio. The bands local popularity grew and they then decided to go on tour. The tour unraveled and the band fell apart. After this Aaron recorded his EP, “Inside My Skin” which he finished in 2004. Shortly after finishing the EP he moved to New York City. In 2008 he released the album, “Buy 1/Get 1” and now in 2009 his new album, “Live Wires” is finished and ready for his fans.

Opening acts can be somewhat of a wildcard in the overall experience of dedicated concert goers that flood small clubs and theater venues nightly in bustling cities. Often they are a chore to get through, a kind of musical Great Wall Of China standing between you and the experience you originally sought. This was certainly not the case for those who were treated to an opening set by soulful British indie/folk singer Will Knox at Berkley’s Cafe 939 in Boston, MA last Friday September 11th.

Second chances are delicate; sometimes they can bring innovative greatness, but other times they only reaffirm what already came to pass. However, for small-town Pennsylvania band Like Lions, the later is surely not the case. Stimulated by resurgence in artistic creativity, Greg Itzen (vocals, guitar), Adam Honeycutt (guitar, backup vocals), and Mike Honeycutt (drums) began to jam again, but this time in a different direction. They adapted a holistic indie, soft rock sound and picked up Jason Harris (bass), and Diana D’Argenio (piano) to perfect their new approach to the old band Like Lions.
