Since the age of two, Conor Oberst has been playing the piano, or at least attempting to. Oberst’s brother Matt, and his father, taught him how to play guitar when he was ten years old, and he has been writing ever since. Obviously, Oberst’s is more than just musically inclined. As soon as he came into the world, he basically began playing music.

Out of the mass of musical artists crowding the Los Angeles scene, came an indie electro-pop group titled Uh Huh Her. The group formed in January of 2007, when acquaintances Camila Grey (Lead Vocals/Synth/Bass/Guitar) and Leisha Hailey (Vocals/Synth/Bass) came together and started experimenting with different musical directions. The timing was perfect for both, Grey was phasing out of her previous group and Hailey was coming off filming a season for the hit television series “The L Word.”

Warner Bros. Records got into the holiday spirit this year by releasing the digital album Gift Wrapped: 20 Songs That Keep On Giving! This record is as diverse as it gets. It has everything from Michael Bublé to My Chemical Romance to Dwight Yoakam. It’s a mix between both classical and original holiday songs with such diverse genres that no one could get sick of the songs.

Our writer, Jay Rowland recently discovered himself lost and wandering among the catacombs of the Asylum For Wayward Victorian Girls. After some time he was discovered by the amazing violinist, Emilie Autumn. Before helping him find his way out they sat down and had a little chat over tea and crumpets. Before 2005 I don't know how any average Internet user coped without the phenomenon that is YouTube. We all know it and we all love this video sharing website and whether we've been featured in a video or not it's safe to say we've all used it at some point or another. YouTube has brought us some of the funniest things for example, "Evolution of Dance" the endless "laughing baby" clips and not to mention a great deal of aspiring musicians have gained a fair amount of fame thanks to YouTube alone. One of these aspiring musicians slowly catching a lot of YouTubers eyes is 16 year old Juliet Weybret from Northern California.

Look I’m Burning is a band from Madison Wisconsin. It consists of Brandon Connor (vocals), Matt Tyler (guitar and vocals), Apostolos Holevas (lead guitar), Jaime Palma (bass), and Paul Wendell Swift , III(drums). For being an unsigned band, trying to make it in the music industry, the band has a pretty decent fan base on MySpace, with over 600 friends or listeners. They recently released their EP titled The All Eyes.

When the opening chords of “Needle and Haystack Life” rang and the blue lights hit the stage, all the band members of Switchfoot were present except for front man Jon Foreman. The sold out crowd was then graced by the presence of his voice; the soft repetition of “in this needle and haystack life” and the fluidity of the song’s melody set the entire ambiance for the show. And then it occurred, the most beautiful opening moment of any concert I have ever been to; the musical intro strung out and the spotlight hit Foreman, who was standing in the upper section of the crowd with mic in hand.

As Boston’s music scene is growing, so are the bands that have been climbing their way up the media stream. Stay, a band from the city within, is just one of those bands working on making a name for themselves. The five-piece pop-rock band became an official band about two years ago. Since then, the band has released an EP titled Games With Girls and have played many shows across the U.S including the Vans Warped Tour. They’ve even played with such bands as; All Time Low, Hit The Lights, A Rocket To The Moon and The Cab. Now, Stay is taking one-step further by releasing a music video for their song “Maddie Kthx” on December 12th.
