After 20 years of existence, if you don’t know who the Bouncing Souls are, you’re missing something quite important in the world of punk rock. For as long as they have been around, they have stayed true to themselves and true to their music, which is awesome to see.

On January 11, 2010 Steph Mirsky down with the guys from Parachute at the World Café in Philadelphia, PA I had the opportunity to talk to them about their past musical endeavors, their new found success, and what is up for the band in the future. I must say that they were some of the most laid back and generally fun musicians I have the pleasure of interviewing thus far.

When Connecticut based powerpop band To Write A Riot sat down and started to write their latest EP, The Party Law, I can only imagine that they wanted to make music that makes people want to dance. Mission Accomplished. The Party Law is a perfect soundtrack to any Saturday night.

Residing in Worcester, Massachusetts, The Palladium has had dozens of bands play on it’s stage; all of different genres that draw in the crowds causing many shows to sell out, especially if it’s a band playing a hometown show. I have been to the Palladium so many times it’s hard to remember exactly how many shows I’ve been too there. Normally, there’s no problem and my friends and I can enjoy a show. There are also those other times where something makes the whole experience down right irritating, but luckily, those times don’t happen often.

City Light is a band brought to us from four different guys that worked together via the US postal service. Singer/songwriter, Matt Shaw began by mailing tracks back and forth with his friend and producer, Nick Andre. As the project grew they got help from Andrew Fitts (Airport Cathedral and Aqueduct) and Denver Dalley (Desaparecidos, Statistics, and Intramural) and City Light was born. The band has captured a great blend of punk, eletronica, and shoe-gaze pop, making for an interesting sound. With their sophomore album, Burned Out Bright they have really come together and matured their sound that is sure to please all types of music fans.

Seattle band Go Periscope formed back in 2008, bursting onto the scene to showcase their original synthesized melodies and beats. The duo, made up of Florin Mehedinti and Joshua Frazier, have been playing instruments since they were young, and as they got older, just kept getting better! Their new self titled CD definitely has select songs that really does the band justice, and shows what they’re all about.

Side projects are sometimes a yawn in the scheme of things, but once I found out that members of Fall Out Boy, Every Time I Die and Anthrax were creating, I was giddy like a kid on Christmas. As random of a mixture as it sounds with Keith Buckley (Every Time I Die), guitarists Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano (Anthrax) and guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley (Fall Out Boy), you would first have to wonder how in the world did this come into existence.
