Adrian Grey is a pop punk/alternative band from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. They have just released their latest album, I’m Your Best Ever Bi-Polar Lover independently. The band made a bold decision to release this album for free download to their fans. When listening through the album, I found it to be a refreshing mix of upbeat music and more dark lyrics. With relatable and upfront lyrics, this album is sure to be a hit with fans.
The album starts out with “What I Know” which seems to be more of an introduction than a song. The song has a muffled sound to it, and for the most part it’s the lead singer talking and screaming some words with a background noise. It’s a cool introduction because it sets a mood of almost bi-polar and recklessness that the band wanted to communicate with the listener.
“Leeches” is the second song off the album. The chorus of the song is catchy, and the lyrics scream angst of a bitter ex-lover. Although, we’ve all heard this concept for a song, the lyrics play with an honesty and realness that’s rarely heard in a song.
By the time “All The Same” comes up, I’m ready for something new, for a new story to be told. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. This song echoes the same basic things that a lot of the rest of the album has. There’s a girl you like, she either breaks your heart or completely ignores you. We get it by the second song.
“The Right Mood” is a breath of fresh air on this album. The song is a great slow song. It seems to be a song where the singer looks down on himself and his past mistakes and is letting in out. The lyrics are greatly written and the piano in the background is a nice break from the other music on the album.
The album ends with “Time Off”. It almost seems like the end song to a musical with the chorus echoing “It’s time to go”. It’s the most upbeat song, and the lyrics seemed to wrap up the feel of the whole album.
I’m Your Best Ever Bi-Polar Lover is an album written about a dark time in the lead singers life, and it somehow has you feel like you’re going on the emotional ride with him. Although some parts of the album are rough, there are certain parts of it that shine through and show the bands talent.
