Fresh from opening for Bon Jovi at the 02 Arena London, which only comes around once in a lifetime. The UK band Young Guns are set to be the next up and coming successful band with their mix of heavy riffs, catchy guitar hooks and emotive lyrics. The five piece hailing from High Wycombe have just released in the UK their first full length album ‘All Our Kings Are Dead’. Young Guns have previously only released one other small EP and two singles so for the band this first album has to make an impression, and it definitely does.

Kentucky’s Emarosa have finally released their new self titled album through Rise Records as a follow up from the successful “Relativity”. Teamed up with producer Brian McTernan, this is Emarosa at the top of their game, musically, emotionally and artistically. This dynamic album will leave you with your mind being somewhat shattered.

The Gaslight Anthem return to us with their 3rd released album “American Slang”. A follow up from the popular “The 59’ Sound”. Songs from that album have been hammered into my head ever since that album was released, and during my anticipation for “American Slang” I did have some doubt that The Gaslight Anthem couldn’t possibly better their previous one. But they did it.

I have to admit that when I first decided to review High Places vs. Mankind by High Places, I was skeptical. I had originally heard of High Places from the hit British television series, Skins, where some of their music was featured, but I wasn’t very impressed. I am not a fan of experimental music and I was sure I wouldn’t have anything positive to contribute. Yet, when I popped in my headphones and took my first listen of the album, I was pleasantly surprised.

What do you get when you cross the ruminative, lullaby hum of your most intimate daydreams, and the whirlwind sensation of being lost in a place unknown? Reverie Sound Revue, of course. Canadian bands have a reputation for being underrated, and frankly, Reverie Sound Revue is no exception. The quintet formed in 2002 in Calgary, Alberta and have only recently released their first full-length self-titled album last summer. Headed by lead vocalist Lisa Lobsinger – best known for her collaborations with Broken Social Scene – and backed by the talented John-Marcel de Waal (drums), Patrick Walls (guitar), Bryce Gracey (bass), and Marc De Pape (guitar), Reverie Sound Revue have created a unique indie sound that can only be described as magical.

It’s no surprise that Anais Mitchell is able to stand out among the vast sea of singer/songwriters. Since her humble beginnings in the farmlands of Addison County, Virginia, she has gained a modest but dedicated following who admire the passion and sincerity in her folk songs. She was signed to Waterbug Records until 2007, when she signed with Ani DiFranco’s label called Righteous Babe Records.

By: Erica Lenti If you thought “Alligator” – the latest single from Canadian indie-rock sensations Tegan and Sara couldn’t get any catchier, think again. The sister act have experienced a great deal of success since the release of their 2009 hit album, Sainthood. Between landing a summer tour with Grammy-nominated Paramore, and volunteering their time to charitable [...]

For a band signed to Universal, Lydia is certainly able to retain their indie-band persona. It’s a good thing too, because you won’t hear their ambient rock on the radio too often, so they might as well stay loyal to their small but devoted fanbase. They gained considerable popularity in their hometown, Gilbert, Arizona before [...]
