Know Them Before They’re Famous: Call The Cops

Steph Mirsky
It was once wrote that “long is the way and hard, that leads up to light.” But when that road is lined with sand, surrounded by beach, and paved by musical predecessors, long and hard is not too bad. The Long Beach natives and powerpop quartet known as Call The Cops is a testament to this statement. Justin Allen (Vocals/Programming), Will Shuck (Guitar/Vocals), Stew Richmond (Guiatr), and Gill Galvin (Drums) have only been together for about a year, but they have hit the scene with full force and their dancing shoes.
Following in the electric footsteps of fellow Long Beach natives Hellogoodbye and giving it their own rock sound, Call The Cops have combined beat-driven dance rock and guitar-based pop rock to create a new beat that is sure to have fans dancing and haters consciously resisting their catchy lyrics. With a sound similar to All Time Low, Metro Station, and Forever The Sickest Kids, Call The Cops are sure to gain recognition quickly so give them a listen now to secure your “I knew them before they were big” claim.
What makes CTC so damn good is that they seem to have the winning combination: a distinctive sound, which is forward thinking yet catchy, unfaltering fan loyalty, and the mainstream alternative look. The band achieved a high level of success in a short amount of time: boasting an impressive built-in fan legacy that has generated over five million MySpace plays, 813,000 Purevolume plays, and nearly 20,000 independent CD sales. Ian Kirkpatrick (Plain White Tees, Vogue In The Movement, Stacy Clark) produced the band’s recently self-released EP Motion Sickness that contains five energized songs with addicting tell-it-as-it-is lyrics and seductive dance-or-die rhythms.
Currently, Call The Cops are on their journey along the road to stardom. Their “Last Call Tour” with Vogue In The Movement ends in August, but CTC is going to continue to tour for all of September. So throw on your bright skinny jeans, lace up your Converse, and get ready to dance to the vibrating beats of Call The Cops.
