Demi Lovato VIP Package: Is It Worth It?

By: Kayley Guyette
On June 26, 2009 I attended Demi Lovato’s Boston, Massachusetts stop of her 2009 Summer Tour. I had bought tickets through presale and shortly after I received an email with information on upgrading the tickets to

the VIP package. While the upgrade cost was pricey, about $100 per ticket. But the opportunity to meet Demi

Lovato was presented and I took it. My friend Shayla went with me to the show and we had a great time.
The VIP package included a VIP tour pass, meet and greet with Demi, early access to merch, better seats and access to the sound check. The passes were really cute laminates with her name on one side and “VIP” on the other. The lanyard was black with “Demi Lovato” written repeatedly on it in white. The VIP pass only served as a souvenir and didn’t give the wearers backstage access (AEG Live, who put together the package, noted this in their email).
The sound check was really cool to get into it. It was the first event on the VIP schedule. Demi’s band played through two whole songs

with her backup singers performing. Then Demi joined the stage and talked to the VIP group about her new movie Princess Protection Program. She then preformed her song “Two Words Collide” which was featured in the movie. After that she then took about fifteen minutes to answer questions the fans had. At other dates she played longer sound check, but she’s been having problems keeping her voice and had a ton of press obligations in Boston.
Once sound check was over, everyone was escorted upstairs where they were allowed to buy merch before the crowd. Which was really nice, plus it allowed you get what you wanted without it selling out. Once you had bought your merch you were able to sit down and relax before the meet and greet.
About thirty minutes later everyone was brought back downstairs for the meet and greet. There was an AT&T background set up with Demi’s name on it for the picture. As you got further up in the line there was a small red carpet as well. Everyone was allowed one autograph and one picture with Demi. After you met Demi you were brought back out to the venue lobby and allowed in to the show.
I was in Section F2 (center section) in Row E (fifth row) from the stage. The seats were really nice, but cramped together. Shayla and I had a great time at the show. Word to the wise, if the ticket buyer is not going to the show you have to do a name change (you can request it through AEG Live). Print confirmation of the name change as well. And make sure your tickets are in your VIP envelope, mine and Shayla’s weren’t and we missed most of the sound check while we waited to have the box office find our tickets. Over all the VIP tickets were worth the money, even though my experience wasn’t the best. If you’re looking to meet Demi, your best bet is to buy VIP tickets.

Iam also attening the vip package with my best friend and i saw in your article that you had to do a name change? “Word to the wise, if the ticket buyer is not going to the show you have to do a name change (you can request it through AEG Live)” and i was wondering what does that mean?

I just bought VIP tickets to a Demi Lovato show. My friends mom is the cardholder and she is not attending the show. But we figured she could just come in to show that she is the card holder and then we could go in. Then i read this about the name change ordeal. Are we going to have to make a name change?

Jackie,
I also replied to your email.
If the person who bought the tickets (the credit card holder) isn’t going to the show, then you need to do a name change. But if the ticket buyer can go into the Box Office with you, then you don’t need to do a name change. Simply just have them go in, show their ID and then they can give you the VIP package.
If you have to do a name change, you can do one by emailing AEG Live. I recommend you do it right away (it took them 4 weeks and 7 emails to get back to me). Include your order number (can be found in your confirmation email), the ticket buyer name, the number of tickets bought, the event name and date, and the name you want the tickets changed to. When some one gets back to you, ask them to send you an email confirming the name change is done. Then print this email and bring it with you to the show.
When you get your VIP package, make sure that for each person going there is a VIP pass, ticket and meet and greet wristband. If anything is missing go straight back to the Box Office and alert them.
I hope you have a great time at Demi and feel free to contact me!

Hi Emily,
I also sent you an email.
If your friends mom goes into the Box Office and shows them her ID, they will give her the VIP package. She then can give it to you and your friend. There is no need to do a name change
Once you have the VIP package, before your mom leaves make sure there is a VIP pass, meet and greet wristband and ticket for you and your friend. If anything is missing have your friends mom go straight back to the Box Office and alert them.
I hope you have a great time at Demi! And if you have any more questions feel free to contact me here or to reply to the email I sent you.

I also did a demi vip package! It was very fun. My daughtesr had a blast. I was wondering, what color was your wristband? I’m trying to figure out if they change the color from show to show because a girlfriend of mine asked for our wristbands? and im not sure if theyre still useable.

The wristband for the Boston show was red, said meet and greet, and had the date on it. What color was yours? I was also wondering when they checked your tickets. To get into the venue they only checked the vip pass and wristband. They only checked the ticket when everyone was allowed into the venue and the concert was going to start.

Hi Lisa!
My wristbands were red for the show and from what I’ve seen other shows have had red ones as well. I can tell you that to go into meet and greet/soundcheck security checks for wristbands, VIP passes and tickets. So I don’t think having just the wristbands will get them in.
Thanks for reading

I meant to get into the venue for soundcheck and the meet and greet they only checked the wristband and vip pass.

Hi Sam,
Thanks for reading. As everyone was being brought into the venue for soundcheck/meet and greet they were asking for VIP passes, bracelets and said you needed to have your tickets on hand. When I informed one of the woman that my VIP package didn’t have tickets she told me we weren’t allowed in till we had them and to go back to the Box Office.

I was wondering about how many people per show are allowed the VIP tickets. Were there hundreds of people at the soundcheck or less than that? Thanks for all the info!

Hey Sue,
Thanks for reading. There were about 50 people at the soundcheck. Even with 50 people it was still a really good time. Demi took time to answer questions from everyone who raised their hand with one.

I have VIP tickets too. I was wondering about the pictures with her. Does somebody take them? If so how do they give you the picture? Or do you need your own camera?
July 4th, 2009 at 9:33 am
Hey there,
Demi’s tour manager takes the picture for you. You need to bring your own camera to the show. When you go up to meet her, you hand the camera off to the tour manager. He takes the picture and then hands it back to you.

hi what is the price pf the vip package and where can you get it. Hope i meet friends at the amway arena concert
July 4th, 2009 at 10:29 pm
Hey Michelle,
The VIP package was about $300 for two tickets when I was done with the service charges and all that. The exact amount could have been a little more.
I got an email about upgrading my tickets to VIP, because I bought them through presale. But I did hear that nonpresale people were able to buy them as well.
My advice would be to check on Ticketmaster to see if any are available. Maybe even give Ticketmaster a call.
Thanks for reading Shred and I hope you have a great time at Demi!
