Band You Should Know – Fireworks

By Bekka Collins

Have you heard of fireworks? No, not those things you watch in the sky after a celebration I mean the band. If you haven’t heard of them yet, you best get caught up now before they begin to explode (see what I did there) onto our screens and stages in the very near future!

Fireworks are an American pop-punk band from Metro-Detroit, Michigan who are made up of David Mackinder (vocals), Brett Jones (guitar), Chris Mojan (guitar), Kyle O’Neil (bass) and Tymm Rengers (drums). Although forming back in 2005 these boys have been 100% focused on music 100% of the time and it’s clear that now’s the time their hard work is really beginning to pay off.

Back in the early days the boys were signed to the independent label, Run For Cover Records who released their debut EP “We Are Everywhere” in 2006 and their second EP “Adventure, Nostalgia, and Robbery” in 2008. After touring extensively, gaining experience and expanding their fan-base they signed to Triple Crown Records- home to bands such as Hit The Lights, The Secret Handshake and As Tall as Lions. Due to this they released their first full-length “All I Have to Offer is My Own Confusion” in March 2009 which was produced by none other than Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory. They then set off on their first European tour in December 2009 supporting Set Your Goals which increased theirfan-base immensely.

Now in 2010, the boys are currently on tour with previous pals New Found Glory as well as Saves The Day and HelloGoodBye. They are on a full US tour up until the end of March so if you get a chance stop by one of their shows! If your like me, and you don’t live in the US the boys of Fireworks are also heading off to Australia with Heroes For Hire and will be visiting the UK in May to take part in the Slam Dunk Festival for both the Leeds and London dates.
