Know Them Before They’re Famous: foreverinmotion

By Steph Mirsky

As the heart of winter bears down upon us and as we so perfectly change the contents of our iPods to fit the otherwise dreary mood, there is one band indie and acoustic fans must engage this winter: foreverinmotion.  So as you begin to pump the somber sounds of Death Cab For Cutie, the angsty lyrics of Secondhand Serenade, and the melodramatic breakdowns of Copeland into your speakers, take a second to embrace the artistically mature melodies of foreverinmotion.

Foreverinmotion is the hard work of Chester, Vermont native Brendon Matthew Thomas.  The dream-driven and ambient music almost personifies the creative atmosphere of the soft New England air.  It is if Thomas has been able to capture the elegance of his experiences and transform them into beautiful chord progressions.  This talent has not gone unnoticed; foreverinmotion has put out two full-length albums, both on different labels.  The 2004 foreverinmotion was released on Ocean Fire Records, while 111Records released the 2007 follow up The Beautiful Unknown.  Although foreverinmotion is currently unsigned, Thomas has full plans to release his third LP this winter.

Foreverinmotion’s success does not come without merit. The inspirational and socially conscious lyrics demonstrate Thomas’ ability to create more than just music; he has created a message of belief, love and hope.  These aspects of the foreverinmotion music are why Thomas has been able to generate impressive accomplishments and numbers: over 500,000 total MySpace plays with newer tracks posting in the 60,000+ range, a feature profile on Absolute Punk, and over 300,000 PureVolume plays.

I feel that foreverinmotion is in a strong position to truly make a mark on the indie scene coming off this initial success and partnering it with a highly anticipated third full-length.  So give a listen to foreverinmotion and experience the message that Thomas has for everyone to understand why individuals will forever be in motion towards their goals.
