When people talk about The Audition they would probably only be able to tell you of at least two of the band’s songs from their back catalogue of albums that they like. This is a great shame as The Audition have released some great songs from either their debut album “Controversy Loves Company”, 2008’s “Champion” or 2009’s “Self Titled Album” .

The Sophomore Beat, now a five-piece band from Maine has finally released their freshmen album. Released at the being of this month, the band is hoping to finally set things off with Hi, Technology. After already releasing their EP For The Time Being in 2007 the band has progressed with forming their signature sound. After listening to this album all I have to say is that I’m proud of them for completing such a great album.

In our interview we gain an insight into the pressures of being named iTunes ‘Best New Artist’ 2009 with a 1# album, the staggering act of having a label created for you by a Hollywood star, and the influences behind the music.

Let me introduce you to The Whigs; a three piece rock band from Athens, Georgia. Despite their initial success on the live scene after forming back in 2002, the band – then made up of Parker Gispert, Julian Dorio, and Hank Sullivant (now replaced by Tim Deaux) – waited three years to drop their first full length. An unfavourable experience with a major label early on in their career led to the trio independently releasing their first album Give ‘Em All A Fat Lip in late 2005 . In a truly ‘Do It Yourself’ manner the guys recorded the album in an empty frat house using equipment they’d bought from internet auction site Ebay. Five years on and The Whigs have just released their third album, In The Dark (03/16/10) this time with the support of current label, AKO Records.

Hip-Hop isn’t normally my thing but somehow Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip managed to catch my attention. After top 40 hit ‘Thou Shalt Always Kill’ was released way back in 2007 the twosome have had a string of slightly lesser hits, and now they’ve brought out new album The Logic of Chance.
