Nineteen year old Alisha Dixon never imagined that the fliers she once hung in the halls of Berklee College of Music would lead her to where she stands today. Only a year later, the band Dixon tried so persistently to form, Same Mistake Twice, has already had a run on the Vans Warped Tour as well as several short East Coast tours. Recently, the pop-punk quintet competed in tri-state showcase, winning first prize and a whole new fan base. The female-fronted band has a sound similar to the internationally known Paramore with heavy instrumentals reminiscent of Flyleaf.
Same Mistake Twice has changed its lineup multiple times in order to find the musical compatibility they have today. Its current lineup stands with Dixon belting her heart out on the microphone, guitarists Richard Farrands and Nick Grieco providing killer riffs, bassist Ryan McLoughlin creating the sound to which you stomp your feet, all playing in time with the heartbeat of the songs pounded out by drummer Chris Durso. The band’s sound and stage presence caught the eye of District Kills Records, a label based out of Boston, Massachusetts.
The band is currently writing and recording their debut EP, planned to be released early summer. This untitled album will include Same Mistake Twice’s single “Get Out”, which with one listen will make you tap your toes and sing along. In addition to the single, the band has brand new songs certain to blow you away.
You can catch Same Mistake Twice this summer on the 2010 Van’s Warped Tour. In the mean time, check out their MySpace, take a listen and see if this pop-punk band will be coming to a town near you soon. http://www.myspace.com/samemistake2x
