Jess Grenier is a big music fan. She regullary attends concerts, some big and many for local acts. She brings a lot of new talent to the eyes of Shred News readers. Because of her bands like Boys Will Be Boys and The Blue Pages have been featured on Shred News. She plans to attend college in the spring to major in music business.
1. Boys Like Girls – Love Drunk. This album is definitely one of my top albums this year mainly because it’s so different from Boys Like Girls’ self-titled album. Love Drunk show just how well BLG are progressing as a band since their self-titled. My absolute favorite song off Love Drunk is “Heart Heart Break”
2. All Time Low- Nothing Personal. Ever since So wrong, It’s Right All Time Low has been getting bigger and bigger. With Nothing Personal they show different musical technique and it makes the album work. My favorite songs off Nothing Personal are “Lost In Stereo,” “Stella” and “Hello Brooklyn.”
3. John Mayer – Battle Studies. All of John Mayer’s are absolutely amazing but Battle Studies surpasses all of them. The songs my be about heartbreak, but they’re beautiful.
4. Boys Will Be Boys – The Release. BWBB may not be big right, but I think their EP shows how ready they are to make an album. In addition, they make awesome cover songs too.
5. Lily Allen – It’s Not Me, It’s You. I think with this Lily Allen really shows how well she puts her lyrics with the melodies. My favorite songs off the album are “Everyone’s At It,” The Fear,” and “Not Fair.”
6. Mitchel Musso – Mitchel Musso. I chose Mitchel Musso’s self-titled because even though he’s an actor, I feel as though this album shows that he’s actually a talented musician. I also really like how he incorporated the Hampton Beach Casino into one of his music videos.
7. Owl City – Ocean Eyes. Despite Owl City’s single blowing up from it’s release on the radio, I’d have to say that this album isn’t that bad. I like that fact that Owl City isn’t like most normal bands out there with upbeat powerpop music. With this album I like it shows how great an artist his is.
8. Adam Lambert – For Your Entertainment. I was a fan of Adam ever since I saw him on American Idol and I couldn’t wait for this album to be released. Adam’s vocals are incredible and you can definitely hear his range throughout the entire album.
9. Relient K – Forget and Not Slow Down. Relient K never disappoints with their albums and this one is no exception. I can’t pick a favorite song off this album, I love them all. I think this is their best album yet.
10. We The Kings – Smile Kid. Even though this album was just released I had to add it to my list. I think that We The Kings really matured with this album and the fact that they already have a single on the radio now just shows that. I do have to say though even though its on the radio “Heaven Can Wait” is my favorite song.
