Article By: Nicole Bradley
Soul Fest 09’ will be hosting its 12th annual festival/retreat this year at Gunstock Mountain in Gilford, NH. Soul Fest is dedicated to the inspiration of true love in community, and the pursuit of reaching out to others. With over one hundred artists, and speakers, Soul Fest encourages everyone to reach into their souls and be the best person they can be, so that they can continue to reach out to community.
Soul Fest is distinguished for its support in children and adults alike in the fight against AIDS, but also partakes in many other responses such as extreme poverty in the US and abroad, modern slavery, and other critical issues including the mistreatment of Africans.
With a lineup including many bands that young adults enjoy, the reach that Soul Fest created this year is incredible. Headliners include Christian bands such as, Family Force 5, As I Lay Dying and Norma Jean.
Norma Jean is known for their Grammy Nomination for O God, the Aftermath. As I Lay Dying is also Grammy Nominated. They are especially known for their contradicting satanic “worshiping”, as well as a representation for being a Christian band. Family Force 5 is a Christian crunk band from the south who have made appearances on CBS’ the Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and Cornerstone festival.
Shred News writer, Nicole Bradley, will be covering the event. So be on the look out for a review of the festival, pictures and interview with some of the artists! To find more information on Soul Fest please visit thesoulfest.com
