As electro-rock bands are taking the music industry by storm, underground dance clubs are starting to acknowledge their importance to the electronic scene. In cities all across the U.S, there are indie/electro nights popping up at major nightclubs and concert venues. Unknown to many are the true broad classifications of dance music: house, techno, trance, electronic, and mash-up. Currently in the city of Boston, there is one DJ who is climbing to the top of the underground eletro-rock dance scene, Taylor Walker.
Taylor Walker is a sophomore at Boston University who really began getting involved with the Boston clubs just over six months ago. In a short period of time Taylor Walker has perfected his blend of Top 40’s and techno, featuring some heavier trance beats that keep the crowd going until all hours of the night. This DJ has even been known to throw unexpected rock songs into his mixes to cater to the more alternative rock oriented crowds.
Since the start of this fall, Taylor Walker has been regularly DJ-ing the electro-rock dance nights at various clubs throughout Boston. He has constantly performed at Throwed at The Middle East, Paper at Harper’s Ferry, and Campus at Rise. All of these nights are slightly different in clientele and sound, but Taylor Walker has the versatility needed to adapt to the theme of the night. He has been known to keep crowds partying till all hours of the night with his rhythmic blends and impeccable transitions.
On February 26th in Allston, Massachusetts, Taylor Walker is slotted to headline the first electro-rock dance party presented by Reputations Records. This show will be featuring the live acts Love Via Dance Machine and Dear Zim, making the evening a true Boston experience. So if you want to dance and are slightly tired of the synth infused power-pop, take a listen to Taylor Walker and get blown away.
