Know Them Before They’re Famous: The Sophomore Beat

By: Jess Grenier

The Sophomore Beat is probably one of the most underrated bands from Maine that there is right now. Then again most bands from Maine are. This four-piece indie/pop band from Portland not only have been working hard to get themselves out there, but they’re also currently planning the release of their brand new full-length album Hi, Technology. The band has been playing their way through New England like no other and if you’re lucky they just might stop by in your town.

The Sophomore Beat consists of vocalist and bass player Daniel James, Mike Pure on guitar and vocals, Andy Bohren on keyboards and vocals, and Tom Davin on Drums. Besides having a full-length album coming out next month they also have an EP out now called For The Time Being which has six songs on it including an intro song. Now, if you’re looking to see TSB at a show you can find them playing shows at The Sad Café in Plaistow, NH, The Deering Grange in Portland, ME, and many other venues in the New England area.

Right now the band is excited to announce that their full-length Hi, Technology is being released next month in March. In our interview with TSB, the band said that they hope this album shows their growth as a band a long with having the same general sound as their EP. So the next time TSB is playing in your area, make sure you head out to the gig! The band puts on an amazing show. They’re are worth every penny you spend to watch them and if you see them in March make sure you pick up their new album. Or if you are already a fan, you can pre-order their album in the merch store right now.
