What small three-piece band from Atlanta, Georgia is currently making a big name for themselves? The Status. The band is on its way to stardom by already having already released both an album and an EP.  The Status aren’t completely unknown, they have toured with such bands as Bayside, The Fold and The Right Coast. The power-pop/alternative band has been doing well over pass year with the release of their newest EP Let’s Be Honest.

The band consists of Ben Grant (vocals, guitar), Mike Felker (drums), and Danny Grant (bass). The band’s head start into the huge world of music started with their first album called So This Is Progress which features twelve songs. The album also has guest vocals of such artists as Adam Lazzara from Taking Back Sunday, Anthony Raneri of Bayside and Will Noon from Straylight Run. Some pretty big names to be on a first record don’t you think? Then, last year the band released Let’s Be Honest in December of ’09. The EP consists of four new songs. These songs have shown just how much the band has grown and matured. Maybe we can even expect a new album within the year.

I was lucky enough to see this band at local show at The Middle East back in February. At first I was skeptical because I never heard of The Status before the show. After their set I ended up being really impressed by them. They had a really great stage presence and their music was really nice on the ears. So, in any case if you ever have the chance to check them out you should. You will not be disappointed.
