Let’s begin; a little while ago in 2008, in Dayton, OH lived a group of friends who wanted to make something much bigger than their local music scene. Sounds like a familiar story that never gets that happy ending right? In this case, this story is anything but familiar. Like other bands they began playing music for the enjoyment but they soon realized they could write music that would inspire other people to chase their dreams too. Born from an aspiration for inspiration Joe (vocals) , Taylor (bass) , Tyler (guitar & vocals) , Christopher (guitar & keys) and Kevin (drums) formed Lets Get It. The boys began with a whole load of determination and passion for music. Along with their wide range of influences they were able to create a healthy blend between pop, rock and even hip-hop sounds. This allowed them to quickly gain and expand their online following of fans and friends. Just after the bands one year anniversary they were signed to Fearless Records which is home to popular bands such as Mayday Parade, The Maine and Plain White T’s.
Wanting to gain the respect of both their fans and critics the boys began creating their “second best to no one” live show and so they hit the road. They have had the pleasure of touring with bands such as Artist Vs Poet, Watch Out! There’s Ghosts, Jeffree Star and many others. Wasting no time they released their debut EP The Digital Spaces in August of 2009 which includes everything from orchestral breakdowns to synth melodies. Joe Gilford describes the bands take on their new EP “The new EP is our own unique twist on pop and rock music, approached with a dark, hip-hop sensibility. We like to call it ‘Epic Pop’. This EP is a perfect step in the game with something we feel is fresh. It’s poppy and dark, but at the same time confident and inspirational.”
Let’s Get It are taking this fast-paced world in their stride but some bands are struggling to keep up. The boys however are embracing the change and giving their fast growing army of fans that great feeling of discovering something exciting and fresh. Their currents plans are to tour on The Atticus Tour 2009, with bands such as Finch, Bless The Fall and Drop Dead Gorgeous. 2009 is proving to be a rather successful year for Lets Get It and I presume many years of success will also follow these boys to and from each country. Looks like some people do get their happy endings. Lets Get It. Got It? Good.
